Meet the Maker - Alkeme Atelier

Inspired by the four elements – earth, water, fire, and air – Alkeme Atelier has a deep and enduring connection with our planet. Troubled by the overuse of non-renewable materials, Alkeme Atelier found the solution in plant-based textiles and recycled materials.

Exploring their collections will reveal angular silhouettes, geometric shapes and architectural figures, crafted from plant-based textiles including piñatex, grape leather and cactus leather. Produced by experienced agricultural teams, crops are chosen so as not to put extra pressure on resources; irrigated by rainwater, dried by the sun, grown without fertiliser and cultivated as part of food and drink production. Protective dust bags that prolong the life of their products are made from bamboo fibres, which are renewable and biodegradable.

As well as working with nature to produce strong, natural fibres, Alkeme Atelier helps to clean up the environment by turning plastic waste into the linings of their bags. The brand has also created their own, signature material – Alkeme Vegan Fibre – made from recycled materials and engineered to last longer than animal leather.

Founded in 2019, Alkeme Atelier has wasted no time in ensuring every part of their operation is ethical and eco-friendly. Alongside using natural, vegan materials the brand works with certified factories; not only does this ensure that their recycled materials are produced to exacting standards, but it also ensures that they only ever produce the highest quality products.

From their bucket bags to their crossbody bags, you can be sure each one is made to uncompromising standards from considerately produced fibres.
